I have been absolutely delighted with the response I have had to my Strip Club seminar at the AQC, with so many people inspired to work with 2 1/2" strips! At the seminar the book I showed three quilts from was "Strip clubbing" (see below). I also showed the "Southern Comfort" quilt (pattern available below) On this page:
What fun we are having with 2 1/2" strips! Quilts, cushions, bags all lend themselves to designs using 2 1/2" strips. We have sourced a wide range of patterns to choose from each month. The 2 1/2" strip club meets once a month, each time working on a different block design. Between us we've made numerous quilts, cushions and bags. Why not come and join us on the first Thursday night or first Saturday afternoon of each month? Moda have conveniently introduced jelly rolls which consist of 40 strips of fabric from one range (eg 3 Sisters Simplicity Range). This is a great way to get variety into your quilt at a fraction of the cost. These designs are also a fantastic way to use up your stash. If you bought 1m for a quilt but have scraps left over you can cut strips from them. (say 10cm left over fabric would give you 3 strips). Many of the designs suit a scrappy look. The "In Stitches 2 1/2 inch strip club" meets once a month on a Thursday night 7-9:30pm. Either bring strips with you from your stash or purchase a kit at the shop. Each month we will focus on a different design which uses these strips. During the club meeting we will start to work on the project - so bring your sewing machine and be ready to get going - remember that most of the cutting has been done before the class. There will be homework to complete after the class. You do need to ring and reserve a place at the meeting in advance so I can make sure that there is a spot for you. You don't need to come to every meeting - it's up to you which ones you wish to attend! Cost $10 includes pattern (for more expensive patterns the cost is greater).
